Should it have had a different ending structure? (spoilers)

The ending seems kind of awkward -- we don't really know what happened to the original passengers on the plane or what happened to the British guy.

I think it would have made more sense for Dean Stockwell to have announced they all had to return to their original positions on the plane prior to entering the rip in time and then go to sleep. They could have had the argument about lowering the air pressure, who would wake the pilot, etc but then just decide they had no other option.

Cue dramatic tension as the pilot puts on the autopilot, goes back to his seat and they all fall asleep. Bad 90s TV movie graphics, shaking plane...and then it goes to black. Then a jump cut to the plane -- full of passengers, and a flight attendant standing with a microphone announcing the approach to Boston and the plane's landing in 15 minutes.

The group of passengers who had been through the warp are all awakened at this point and start looking around the cabin, wondering if it had been a dream. They look at each other with a kind of strange deja vu but don't say anything or explicitly acknowledge themselves.

As they exit the plane, the blind girl stops the pilot and says "Thank you, captain. We couldn't have made it without you."

I think it should have ended with the "Present" moving on but not taking the characters and plane with it. Leaving them stranded once again in the Past with the implication being that they are now permanently out of synch with Time.
