Did the book explain the aftermath after returning to 'normal' time?

A plane disappears for 15 to 30 minutes then suddenly its back in departure city, on the ground with most souls on board missing except for half a dozen people that appear on the terminal...
Chances are they end up in Area 51 with tubes up their orifices for the rest of their lives
