So I just finished watching the whole series straight through

Huge Xena fan as you might have guessed from my name, only ever watched the Hercules eps with Xena/Gabby in them. Deprived of my fix I took the opportunity to watch it on The Horror Channel (?).

Must say I really enjoyed it, you can't help but be won over by Herc's innate goodness. Great to see some more of my favourite Xena characters, Aphrodite, Discord, Hera, Callisto, Autolycus, Ephiny. For the most part Hercules couldn't hold a candle to Xena, it's the Monkees to the Beatles but I have to say I appreciated it more than I thought I would.

Best eps? The clip shows, Xena/Herc did them better than anyone else, seeing the Renaissance Pictures staff played by the cast was awesome. The eps in the alternate universe were also very interesting.

Cool, i'm glad you enjoyed the show. I wish more people liked both Hercules and Xena, rather than one or the other.

Xena and Hercules are like Batman and Superman, Herc is just a powerful good guy who does good for good's sake, you can't help but like him but he can be a bit bland. Xena is a darker, more tragic and ultimately more interesting character. More violent and sexier of course, even without the added allure of the subtext.

As a huge Monkees fan I don't know if I should take that as an offense or a compliment because I prefer Hercules over Xena, haha. Especially when Hercules came first, thereby making it the Beatles in sense of it being the original of the 2 and the one starting it all. Xena is the answer to Hercules where The Monkees were the answer to the Beatles....That geekiness being said....

I think what's great about both shows is they are so different but in the same universe; Much like the Star Treks, Stargates, CSIs and Law and Orders. All same universe but offer something different. Hercules was lighter, more fun whereas I saw Xena as the more blood thirsty, darker edgier show. I would flip which show I would watch religiously depending on how the stories were going. when Hercules started to get boring, I tuned out and watched Xena for a while. Then when Xena got too weird/dark for me, I went back to Hercules.
