Surf Board

On the episode where Matt goes outside with Jason, why does he always take his surf board with him? Is it just to relax (haveing something familiar with him might make him less anxious about going out) or something else? I've only seen one episode of the first series (I'm watching the repeats on Dave) so I'm wondering if a reason for the surf board might be mentioned in the first series.

Nothing to do it, he just loves his surfboard. In the first series, you see him adoring it and it's pretty much his pride and joy. In the ep your talking about with Jason, that is the 2nd series i think. But yeah, Matt adores his surfboard.

Though it would seem he's never surfed a day in his life. He simply likes the image.
