Clare really bugged me in the end

Am I the only one that got annoyed with Clare in the last series. She hides the fact from Martin that she has had his child and when he eventually has contact with her she moves away to Australia with her boyfreind, taking the baby with her. To top it off Martin has to learn in a letter how she and her boyfriend have got married. So he can barely see his daughter and some other guy is going to end up being referred to as Dad by his little girl. Clare was really selfish by moving abroad. Am I alone in thinking this?

It's bad enough replacing the brilliant Ben Chaplin, but after a while his replacement grows on you, he's still no Ben though.

Anyway to answer your question. I think Claire is a complete bitch. I never liked her from the start. And as the show went on she just got more and more annoying. Morale killing so it was to watch that rash of a character onscreen. She ruined what fun the show had left. The show felt like a chore to watch when she was on screen. Chores suck!.

Indeed she completely ruined the entire feel of the series and was a complete cow. I remember when she dumped Martin toward the end of Series 2 and I felt so relieved she therefore would not be in series 3. But alas, she came back to screw it all up again.

You can always count on new female characters/other halves to do that in comedy, I mean just look at 'Only Fools and Horses'. Raquel and Cassandra both completely destroyed it all. In my opinion its not even worth watching post-87 once the women have totally taken away all the fun.

Maybe therein lies a reflection of real life.

What if everyone started telling the truth?

So true, that is so true!.

Only Fools stopped being a sitcom the moment they introduced women to the cast as regulars. It was all about two brothers and their grampa and later on their uncle. And what they got up to in day to day life. That's what was brilliant about it.

Your not alone in this no.
I hated clare, if I was Martin, I'd have carried on with the lawyer and stopped her taking Rosie to Australia.
Also she never paid him the five grand back he gave her, I hated her when he went to see Rosie for the first time and she told him the baby don't even know him and she wouldn't trust him with a gerbil. If I were him, I'd say "of course she don't cos her stupid mother didn't even tell me about her."
The one I really hated is when clare called Martin boring and a compost heap and no good impression for a little girl.

I'd say "well excuse me, I've got a career in a bank, building up a future, your a mother that got in debt when pregnant, didn't tell Rosie's father she even existed, then when he saw her, you said she belonged to somebody else, took five grand off him when you needed it so he's suddenly good enough when you need help, but then as soon as you had the money told him to stay away and now taking her away from her father to other side of the world. Your not mum of the *beep* year are you" I hated clare, selfish selfish bitch.
