Anyone find it sad and ironic that....

...Dermott Morgan died shortly after filming the last episode? I am almost done with the first season and I just found out about that.

Maybe God hated this show? Whoa...

Very unfortunate

It was no surprise when he died. He was on massive doses of tranquillisers for anxiety and only just passed a medical before the final season was made. Throughout the series he was plagued with doubts, even when the series became very successful, the success being primarily down to him. A very sad end for a great comedian and actor.

Wow, that's very sad.

It's very sad. I'm not sure it's ironic?
He actually died before the third series went out.
Quite a few unfortunate references to heart attacks in the series. The dancing priest has one, for example.
As most people didn't know what his health was like it's silly to say it was "No surprise" when he died. For most people, it was a nasty shock.
Dermot Morgan was 45 when he died. He would now be 65. One wonders what sort of career he would have had in the years since?

reply

I knew his health situation at the time, but it must have been a shock for those who didn't.

Fair enough.

How did you know?

I remember his death did come as a shock,I don't think his health problems were widely known, not to the general public anyway.
