As a mid-teen I used to fall about laughing at Brendan's act, "Bottler" in particular ("Youse are all lookin' at me!")
Years later I found a video cassette in a bargain basket and bought it. It was bloody awful. Jokes that Will Hay would have rejected as old-fashioned. Even Bottler had lost his lustre.
However, in NJC, I thought he was great. A wonderfully menacing, sinister performance - especially that uncomfortable moment when he confronts the priest about enjoying watching guys running around in shorts!
