20 years later and I still remember this show.
There were some really stupid execs working at CBS in the 90's. Moonlight was also a good show they botched.

shareAgree on both counts. I think it aired a decade too soon. Had this ran during the last ten seasons, it could have been a hit.
shareAgreed. Shame on the network for cancelling this fine show. Maybe Netflix can be persuaded to pick this up. If Twin Peaks and X-Files (both excellent shows of course) can be revived and give it the respect it deserves.
shareThat would be nice. When I heard of Twin Peaks being revived I thought of American Gothic. Though it has nothing to do with the original, I found it kind of ironic CBS ordered another series named American Gothic to air this summer.
shareI agree that CBS has, and continues, to make stupid mistakes regarding programming. American Gothic was a very good, intriguing program that got dumped. But there was also Early Edition, Harry's Law, Battle Creek (earlier this year) and others that I can't remember the names of right now.
shareMe and my mom loved this show. Even now we always talk about "Caleb". When we watch NCIS New Orleans we see Lucas's character we call him Caleb.
shareThis was a great show. My favorite character was Sheriff Buck played by Gary Cole. He was fantastic in that role. I agree they made a big mistake cancelling this show. ALSO I am really bummed that a new show is premiering in June of 2016 called American Gothic and it's got absolutely nothing to do with the 1995-96 show. I was excited for about 20 seconds until I found out the scoop. Can they use that name again? Ugh!
shareHave you noticed how this show has suddenly shot up in the imdb ratings? Other people must have had the same idea, that the other show called American Gothic is a remake and this has now jogged peoples memories of what a great show the original was!
shareWhat a disappointment to learn it's not the same show. Oh well. It was exciting while it lasted.
shareI don't believe Gary Cole will ever top his performance as Lucas Buck.
The first eight episodes were golden, but the rest of the series was often subpar.
My favorite episodes were 'Meet the Beetles' and 'Strong Arm of the Law'
Nice to see Lucas Buck's deputy (Nick Searcy) get a good role in 'Justified'
Nice to see Sarah Paulson breaking out also.
Short Cut, Draw Blood
I agree with you on everything you posted! :) Gary Cole was the best!
I don't.
Clark's destiny = Superman, LL &LL.
I loved this show!!! I can't believe it was only 1 season def ahead of its time
shareAgree, it's a great show. Just bought the newest edition on dvd.
They cancelled a lot of great shows back in the day.
