I can't believe this came out in 1994

It look and sounds like it was shot in the 70s, and i'm watching a HD copy.

Perhaps late '70's, definitely early-to-mid '80's, this movie looks like it was made.

Scorsese's version of Cape Fear, which came out three years before this flick, has the same look. Interestingly, both films were written by the same screenwriter, Wesley Strick.

I'd agree that it has a late 70s/early 80s vibe, but not that it literally looks like it was shot during that era. The film stock, the ADR, the the wardrobe and the hair styles all betray that notion. It does in some ways feel as if it's from an earlier era, though.

It's an interesting film, in any case. I originally watched it as a kid when it first came out and thought it was boring--I think I was looking for something closer to a traditional werewolf flick--but I revisited it recently as an adult and enjoyed it.

It is fine.
I don't know what you are talking about.

Get some glasses.

I just finished watching it and yes, it definitely reeks of the late 70's with its lighting and cinematography. That sudden zoom-in on Spader's face when he realizes Pfieffer left is so 70's. I dig it.

Yeah I’d have to agree, definitely didn’t feel like 1994. It felt more 1980’s than 1970’s though.

Another interesting movie Metropolitan came out in 1990 and that too felt older.

I think that the person most responsible for the movie looking "older" than it actually is would be it's cinematographer, an Italian who was at the very end of his career, he was already in his 70s when he shot this film... so he was perhaps used to doing thing in a certain way/style... not going with the trends of the time.

Mike Nichols wasn't a spring chicken either... and Ennio Morricone (composer) had also been around for decades.

These gentlemen collaborating together using techniques from decades prior has in my opinion helped Wolf not age as drastically as if they had decided to go with the trends of early-mid 90s moviemaking.
