Shame on you Wes...

I'm pretty sure I saw this flick years ago, but was revisiting the whole "Freddy" world from the start again recently and enjoyed 1, never much cared for 2, thought 3 was decent and then jumped ahead to this film and never saw the in-be-tween movies.

Honestly this last pass I couldn't make it past 20+ minutes of this movie. It's absolutely horrible! Shame on you Wes... I understand the gig, trying to get original & taking it back to the acting cast, setting it back to then but this thing is just riddled with move cliche's than an overcooked ham, and if that's your intent at comic genius then it didn't work. It's that bad.... Moreover it's the acting that is so horrible that spills everything into muck.... As I write this I don't think I'll continue watching the movie as theres little point...

Sadly the main actress Heather or whatever her name is has IMHO always been a bad actress and a bit slow to the mark since the beginning, granted she's ramped up a bit since then bit still no where near an "actresses abilities" so I guess Hats off to you Heather as you've done the dead and probably well off for it. So good for you.

Far as this movie goes, damn.... This is utter crap.

I loved the Freddy movies growing up and was contemplating about introducing them to my kids as they have come of age but instead I may turn towards the Jason flicks instead

Ugh, a stupid post from some dummy who "can't make it past the twenty minute mark" and then thinks anyone is going to care about their opinion. How many times do I have to read these ignorant types of posts on IMDb? There's one for every movie, it seems. Like it or don't like it...who cares? Just don't waste everyone's time with a big paragraph when you didn't even bother watching but a sixth of it.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

This isnt even a movie. This is like when the Walking Dead goes off and the Talking Dead comes on and you really wanna do something else but you watch because you fancy yourself a fan.

Or like a Dinner and a movie skit show where like they will play Ferris Bueller on and but will have their own Ferris movie put together about his life at 35 years old and they break them down into a series of skits, one to be played after each commercial break.

So it's like they are playing "Nightmare on Elm Street" on TNT or TBS and after every commercial break they play a different skit of Freddy killing a producer. But eventually someone says "Hey how can you be Freddy if Freddy is in the movie we are playing. He comedicaly stops to think and says "i'm an ancient demon only posing as Freddy but i have all his powers boo ha ha ha" and the girl gets so scared that she bellows out an annoying fake scream and her hair goes all Einstein but her scream made Freddy go away and then Robert Englund comes in like "Darn it i missed the Polkaroo again"

And that sums up this movie. Watch the "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" reunion show on YouTube, its much better

I strongly disagree with you. I think it's the best of the series. Even better than the first one. To me, the concept of making the films to keep the demon at bay so it won't come into real life is very clever and inventive. I didn't mind the acting either. None of the performances stand out for me as bad. I realize this film isn't for everyone and that's okay. But it is for me and I find it incredible.

What I didn't like was making fun of the previous movies in order to boost this one up as scarier and truer to the original concept. New Nightmare was okay but not nearly as good as the original, and it even contained some of the same problems the previous sequels are accused of having. If you're going to claim this Freddy is darker and scarier, you better go all out and make him a totally sadistic, nightmarish fvck. He still joked around and did silly stuff like stretching his arm and tongue and mouth, and on top of that, the makeup here was probably the least creepy looking. It was too rubbery and he wasn't mutilated enough.

freddy was darker here then in any of the previous films except 3 1 2 this film is truer to the original but its also not a nightmare film this isnt even a slasher film its a thriller this is a stand alone movie its part of the freddy movies but its a stand alone movie its better then 4-6 an 2 3 an one are better. An four is much more fun an a better freddy movie but this isnt a freddy movie its a meta horror thriller film
