Eh, I don't think we'll see a Blu-ray version of this movie any time soon. I'm sure the studios don't want to upset James Cameron and wind up losing a talented director who makes them millions of dollars.

I'm sure sometime down the line they will consider it, but as long as James Cameron is still alive, I wouldn't bet on it. This is why there will never be a sequel to this movie.

Why doesn't Cameron want this to be released on Blu-ray? It's already on DVD and I've seen HD broadcasts of it on TV.

You do know that Cameron personally supervised the HD transfers of True Lies and The Abyss right? The only reason we're not seeing these wonderful yet underrated films come out on Blu-ray is because of the Fox executives. Even Cameron doesn't seem to understand why they're not releasing them.

The Abyss and True Lies have a devoted fanbase and would likely sell a ton of Blu-rays. Why Fox hasn't released them is a mystery.

The DVD is quite excellent. I wouldn't be upgrading myself.

The DVD is pretty mediocre with no features and a dated transfer.
