You know who she looks like...
To me, Thumbelina is what I imagine to be a human version of Britney the Chipette. Did anyone else envision that? They basically have the same hair style, color and facial structure.

shareNow that you mention it, I can totally see it.
She's equally annoying, as well.

She was sweet, but her naivete(?) didn't really last.
At the beginning, she was cute. ("I'm going to find my prince!")
But, then she was pessimistic and sort of whiny. ("I'll never find the vale of the faries!")

Not to argue, but she's not a developing character.
Eh, let's agree to disagree.
I didn't think she was annoying. I mean, she did whine a bit, but it was understandable. She always seemed really cute to me.

Take Me Out Tonight *MEOW*
Yeah, they may look alike, but Britney has no problems standing up for herself, even if it means stepping on toes.

Um, yes she does.
1. When she finds out she's about to be forced to marry the toad, her response is, "I love Cornelius!" Not, "Forget it!" or "Who are you to tell me who to marry?"
2. When the Beetle is kissing her up the arm, she simply shrieks, "Mr. Beetle, I don't even know you!" She doesn't try to pull her arm away or smack him upside the head or both (Which is precisely what I would do if a stranger started doing that to me.).
3. She doesn't tell Miss Field Mouse to sod off when she's being pressured to marry the Mole (In the original story it was because she felt she owed Miss Field Mouse because she took her in, but this is left out of the movie.).
In fact, the only time she does stand up for herself is at the altar. Only then does she show any strength by refusing to marry someone she doesn't love, stomping on the Toad's foot, and pushing away the Beetle.
I'm not saying that being rude or violent is always the best response. But in each of these situations where she's being controlled and manipulated, a hard kick in the nuts would've been a better response than sitting back and letting others do whatever the hell they want with her life, regardless of how she feels.
