If Thumbelina was your daughter...
...how would you treat her? How would you handle caring for a daughter so tiny? Do you think her mother did well, from what's seen? If not, how would you have improved parenting her?

shareInteresting questions.
I'd probably be overprotective.
(I get like that sometimes with my friends.)
Her mother did the best she could, but if I were her,
the last thing I would've done was leave her with an aging
dog and a standing book, (When I saw the movie
again, I was thinking how easy the book
could squish her by falling on her!),
next to a windowsill that was ajar.
Safety first!
She would stay in my room every night where I could keep
an eye on her. ^__^
I'd just be very careful not to let anything happen to
her. (She'd probably really hate me, but it would
all be for her own good.)
I'd smack her with a flyswatter. Hey, I'm mean and she's whiny.

I'd squash her like a bug.
Maybe not even deliberately.

The arguments on these boards, particularly an animated film board about this character as brought to life by Bluth are hilarious to me. Honestly, I've always reckoned that unless any type of film deals with a serious matter, there's no point in tedious bickering like 'OMG, you have to put yourself in her shoes to understand what's she's going through' ...
Personally, if this version of Thumbelina was in any way related to me, I'd tell her in times of trouble be strong and not passive, or better yet in my view throw her animated cel in Dip so I'd never have to hear her complain or simply go along with situations she shouldn't ever again. Also, I'd like Jacquimo to join her in the Dip as well.

Buy a pizza; keep 99% of the pizza for yourself. That's worth learning to knit and/or sew those uber-tiny dresses.
