I love this movie, but I just realized something....
I've been watching this movie since I was a kid and it still has one of my favorite opening sequences. However, I just realized at the end of the sequence when Derek announces their marriage and Odette stops him, she gets upset because she wants him to respect her as a person and not marry her based on looks, but isn't she doing just that?
Derek spends the rest of the movie learning to appreciate her for more than her looks, but she doesn't really develop as a character. Odette wants to know that Derek loves her for more than what she looks like, but never really expresses the non-superficial reasons she loves Derek.
Did I miss something or is she being hypocritical?
