i don't get it

why do people love this movie so much? i mean, to each's own, but i never saw anything great or spectacular to this movie. the leads are boring as hell, the characters have little-to-no character development, the writing's terrible, the plot's a mess, it leaves major plot holes everywhere, the comedy's weak and the music's pretty forgettable (except for 1 or 2 songs that are just okay). really, other than the decent animation and good voice acting, i can't find any more good stuff in this movie. so, what's there to like about it? it was just another animated musical from the 90's that tried so desperately hard to be like Disney, but it ended up falling flat on its ass.

I totally agree! I'm seeing a tn f reviews saying that it's a classic, it's their favorite, etc. I don't get what they see in this film.

saw it again yesterday, and it hasn't aged well at all. this movie's a complete snooze!

I love it! I find it funny, I love the songs. Rothbart is an excellent bad guy with scary voice.

I've always been a fan of non-Disney films though. Even when I was little I would choose this or Don Bluths Thumbelina. Maybe I just find it nostalgic.

You're making it sound like as this movie had a overwhelmingly amount of followers, which it hasn't. It has it's fanbase, but it's relatively low. Notice it's ratings.

As for myself, I like the movie because it's delightful, captivating and enchanting.

i respect your opinion....... but, you call this movie "enchanting"? wanna a see movie that's enchanting for real? then go watch Aladdin, or even Moana

reply

I like both Aladdin and Moana and they have enchanting components of their own. But I consider The Swan Princess to be enchanting because I find it cute and endearing. And I stand by it. No offense, but why are you stating your opinions as they were facts?

reply

i'm not stating my opinion as a "fact", i never do that. i just don't get why people call this a "great" movie. again, to each's own, but here i just don't really get it.

no, but you're still conveying your opinion as it was a fact. just look at your latest post. "wanna see a enchanting movie for real?". no offense, though.
