Was the bus really going above 50 in those turns?

I would think sideswiping cars, hitting sign posts and plastic barrels full of water would slow it down.

Can a bus really stay at 50 making turns like that at all?
I get it they may have had to slow it down to make it but wondering how plausible that really could be and realize I am asking about a bus that also makes a jump in a gap with no ramp and is still able to somehow get it's front end up.

All valid points but it's entertainment and damn good entertainment!

I loved this back in the 90's and still love it now. Sometimes you just have to suspend your disbelief.

Probably not, but there's no way it would have jumped that gap in the freeway either. Even if a bus could make a jump like that, that wasn't a proper ramp for that sort of jump -- it was an interstate highway overpass with a section missing from the middle. The ends of the overpass on either side of the gap were actually pretty horizontal. The instant the bus' front wheels left the pavement, the front end would have started dropping, and probably the whole thing would have gone underneath the other end, no matter how fast the bus was going. To jump something, a vehicle has to go up a ramp to send the vehicle off (provided it has enough velocity) at a steep enough upward angle that it hasn't fallen too far back down before it reaches the other side. This would have been just like driving off a cliff.

But it's a movie, so you're supposed to suspend disbelief and not let yourself think much about the reality of the situation.
