The Weird Scarf wearing

I think this movie is great but the only thing that botherd me is that he wore the scarf below the nose, and I think if u were tryin to disguise urself you would wear at over the nose like bandits do. Does anyone else agree with me here. i just thought it would look better over his nose lol

If you notice his face completely changes. The scarf is there for style and to make the character look more unique.

But that's what The Shadow looks like. I'm glad they kept the look.

The toys actaully went over the nose, even in the art. So in a weird way, you go what you wanted... ;)

Most of the artwork I have seen of The Shadow has the scarf not over the nose. The "hawk nose" is one of The Shadow's signature descriptions along with his ring, hat, guns, etc.

In one Shadow comic book, a few Asian guys couldn't see the Shadow, so they set a Tiger on him, The Shadow used the cloak to wrap up the tiger and kill it.
Years later, in the 80's Batman copied this in a comic book, using his cape.

The stuff the Shadow wears can be used as weapons in emergencies it seems.

About the Hawk nose. I read somewhere that the Shadow had become disfigured or something. I don't know this for sure. Someone can fill us in.

In the very first Shadow story, the Shadow keeps his face mostly hidden except for a part near the end when one of the rank & file criminals gets a clear look at his face and seems to break down screaming.

If I recall correctly, I'd read about an interview where Walter Gibson was asked about the above aspect of the first story. And Gibson said that one of his early ideas was that the Shadow would have lost part of his face at some point before becoming the Shadow. Anytime the Shadow looked normal he would be wearing some sort of disguise. But ultimately Gibson abandoned this idea [I believe he thought it too morbid] in favor of giving the Shadow the real identity of Kent Allard.

So, am I the first one to make this observation... "The Shadow knows"... "The shadow-nose"?

Get it? I crack myself up.

If anyone used to watch Raccoons, it doesn't beat 'the Sneer nose knows!!' from Cyril Sneer.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

It would look better going over his nose, I admit that, but if you google an image of the Shadow from the comics or even sketches from the original pulp novels, you'll see that his nose was always (and I mean ALWAYS) drawn large and long, it was a trademark of his character. Even back then his nose hooked out over his scarf, and it's just become an iconic part of the character.
