This movie was better than The Dark Knight

It's less serious, sure, but it's also much less ridiculous. Way better than most superhero movies when it comes to set design, costuming, casting, etc. It's just a classy movie; no wonder it's basically forgotten. Who's with me?

I completely agree, also this movie has a lot of similarities with "Batman Begins", except "The Shadow" has art direction, a sense of humor, and actually has something to do with its source material.

Wow, people on IMDB really are idiots

Yeah, I really love The Shadow but certain sections of this movie are just terrible. If the whole movie was as awesome as the bridge scene you might have a point.
The Dark Knight is incredible from start to finish.

The Dark Knight is a step above The Shadow. IMHO

Count me in.

'The Dark Knight' was OK...just OK...and very over rated, IMO.

T'The Shadow' did a remarkable, imaginative job of bringing a difficult to translate character successfully to the screen...it was very true to it's source material.

'Batman' films require muscly costumes and an actor that can speak in an exaggerated low voice.

I'd welcome more 'Shadow' films before 'Batman' any day.

i like the dark knight but if you want to start getting real critical like people here want to the dark knight is a joke. it has so many flaws that it would out flaw any movie.

This one at least what films should be about all in one and most importantly its for kids!

But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me

"For kids" is right! Unlike the pulp magazine pulp material, which is much more adult-oriented.

I doubt I would ever argue that The Shadow is a "better" movie than The Dark Knight. But I will say that I enjoy it a lot more. Despite some flaws it's a ton of fun. I'm rewatching it right now and am pleasantly surprised how entertaining it remains.

It's a great summer fun movie...I really enjoyed it...

Actually a lot of 'The Shadow' is quite deep, a lot deeper than your usual popcorn flick and 'The Dark Knight', the hero is a redeemed warlord, killer and general bad guy who lives with his guilt everyday.

I loved his line "Not for me Margo, never for me". Brilliantly written, acted and appropriate to the films of a bygone era.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

Deeper than The Dark Knight, how so?

Even though I enjoyed The Shadow as a kid, I would still pick TDK over it.

TDK is also "deeper" than TS, mainly because TS is more fantasy and supernatural based than TDK.

And yes, this is my opinion, as your post is your opinion.

''TDK is also "deeper" than TS, mainly because TS is more fantasy and supernatural based than TDK.''

I have explained why, the Shadow has to live with his ''evil'', the memory of being a murderer etc, Batman just has to live with the death of his parents and is an all out good guy.

And yes, it is an opinion. But just because something is more grounded in fantasy and the supernatural, it does not mean that it is less deep than a film that ins't. I mean 'Kaidan' is infinitely deeper than US popcorn flicks, and it is a supernatural anthology film about Shinto and Buddhist horrors in Japanese folklore.

I can agree with that. The Shadow is not technically a better movie than The Dark Knight, but it is one that I will rewatch and have fun with whereas The Nolan Batman flicks just don't have that repeat viewing appeal to me. They're good, but after I have seen them, I have seen them and don't have much of a desire to watch them again.
