It scared me.

I saw The Road to Welville on Comedy Central on a Saturday morning, right before MST3K came on. Yep, that's how my Saturdays are spent. Anywho, that's not the case anymore, cuz poor MST3K is off the air.
Anyways, I saw The Road To Welville just because it had Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Broderick in it. And it freaked me out! LOL! What went wrong Tony? Very weird and scary.
Sanitariums really freak me out now. I'm terrified of Kellogg now.
What was really scary was that my Nutrition teacher at school showed us a bio on the Kellogg guy and it reminded me of the film. Now I have nightmares.

Just kidding you guys. This page needed a post. But the film did freak me out in a scary way. Not like The Passion of the Christ, but sort of in an annoying/i-don't-like-this-film way.

I agree, a very disturbing movie, but not a bad one, it definatly has its bizarre/funny parts. The acting in it was excellent too. John Cusack, Anthony Hopkins, Dana Carvey, Matthew Broderick. And Bridgett Fonda is pretty hot. Probly deserves a bit of a better review. I'm not sure but I think the point to it was sex is actually extremely healthy, which I coulda told you in the first place!

reply

LOL, it's been awhile since I posted that. Yeah, that film was very out there, but it's funny to see Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Kellogg. :)

reply

I just saw it.
One of the most bizzare movies I've seen, so naturally I found it appealing.

Made me laugh. There are some good scenes such as Anthony Hopkins crazy son throwing bags of *beep* at the guests and Mathew Brodricks wife flashing the woman who wore that fur.

Camryn Manhiem. I love you.

I saw this movie last night and I thought it was so incredibly wierd. I decided to saty up til 3am to watch the whole thing because I'm a very big Dana Carvey fan and so I only got 4 hours sleep. Lol. I didn't really like it very much but I must admit it had a pretty good cast. Dana Carvey, Anthony Hopkins, John Cusack etc. The best parts were the George Kellog scenes because he's so insane lol.

Highly strange movie, and such an excellent cast...

This movie was horrible. I was creeped out and when anyone talks about this movie in a good way I feel like laughing out loud. I know that's kind of mean to people who like it and I appologize for any animosity I have given you toward me but personally, I think this movie is a disgrace to every actor/actress that played in it and torture to any one who was tricked into watching it because it had good actors.

I loved this film. Anthony Hopkins was just amazing as Dr. Kellogg and Broderick, Cusack, Neville, Fonda and Carvey did good jobs too. The script is very humourous in a sly way. Every time I hear the word enema I break out laughing, lol. I gave it a 7 on the IMDB scale.

reply

Cusack was good.
:P

Why do you hate it?

(Insert something clever here)

reply

Yes, it was wierd, but I enjoyed it. I didn't finish it yet. It was on 2:15am last night and I got up to when they were doing surgery or something to Matthew Broderick. I thought it was funny, but MB was in a loin cloth way too many times. And there were too many naked people!

i must say i didnt see the movie but i certainly will. its astonishing how many people say the movie is crap because it scared them or because it was so weird...
apparently it HAS made an impression on it's viewers which has to mean it isnt such a bad movie after all, just my two cents.

It's still a bad movie -- lol

It's dark comedy, sweetheart---you either love it or hate it. The fact that many of the treatments at the sanitarium were not far removed from torture cracks me up. (Plus I live near BC, so the humor hits home.)

Americans are supposed to react badly to this one because it makes fun of people who emphasise health and fitness slightly more than they should.

and what makes u so sure that all americans r like that?

Actually, speaking as an American, it would be nice if more of us focused more on our health and fitness in our daily lives. Maybe not at the level of Dr. Kellogg in this movie, but we have embarrassing rates of adult and childhood obesity. Ah well, apparently the prices of freedom are laziness and cravings for baked goods, fried chicken, and soda.

Of course, as I recall, wasn't Dr. Kellogg in the movie rendered impotent by a case of the mumps? And wasn't that the reason for his obsessions with enemas (a long wand shooting fluid into someone's bodily cavity -- come ON!) and preaching against sex and masturbation?

reply

Yes, frightening, revolting and deeply disturbing, but in a good way.

Imagine that.

All you people are stupid. Good movie

It always amuses me to see the Moronic Left fail to see the vivid reflection of themselves in this movie. They can't stand to see their pet causes displayed, or worse, mocked. You can all but hear PETA and our current First Unelected Diet Czar gnashing their teeth at the thought of this movie's snickering jabs at Holy Writ. The cranks around here, (Oregon), are having a spasm over GM crops, and are making another attempt at incremental dictatorship. One would think that the Media might at least attempt at showing alternate opinions.

It's no wonder that you never see this movie on TV.
