I'm looking for a similar movie. I haven't seen either The River Wild or the movie I'm looking for recently, so I might mix them.

I think the movie I'm looking for portrays a family going on a trip down or near an American (or Canadian) river. I think they at least start with canoes or kayaks, but end up on shore, trying to escape some killer (one or two men) or something. As far as I remember the kid didn't want to go on the trip to begin with or something like that, but that might as well have been this one.

I don't really remember any details, as I've only seen it once, on TV around 2000. I think it's a 1990's movie, like The River Wild. I don't know any actors, and I don't know whether or not it's any good or popular. In my mind, it's a mediocre, but entertaining adventure thriller.

The movie I'm looking for is not Deliverance.

Well I just watched this yesterday and it really sounds like you are describing The River Wild. The only thing that's different is that the family is rafting, not canoeing or kayaking.

I know it's similar, hence the title and why I asked here :P But the thing is that I watched The River Wild some years ago (around 2007) assuming it was the movie I had watched around 2000. I realized then that they were two different movies, but today I can't remember which is which. The reason why I ask is because I just watched Deliverance and thought of it. I know the movie I'm looking for is about a family going out in the American wilderness (probably camping), and then getting stalked by 1-2 criminal strangers (which might have been with them on the trip, as in this movie), but I'm not 100 percent certain they traveled by the river; I might mix that with this one.

Maybe you had a dream that mixed The River Wild with another movie, which is set in a river.

Anyway, if you want a movie with a criminal in a boat then try Dead Calm with Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill.
