Van Dough's job?

What was his job? Was he like a financial advisor to Mr. Rich? And if so, why? Obviously if Mr. Rich could build a multi-billion dollar company (presumably from the ground up) and he's giving financial advice to the president of the United States, he certainly must have some kind of business intellect. Van Dough acts like Mr. Rich is a moron for giving away a billion dollars a year to charity (which is chump change considering Mr. Rich's net worth) but clearly he knows what he's doing if he's still running a successful business.

Anyone else notice this?

He would have been the Vice President, seeing as he was in charge as soon as Mr. Rich was presumed dead. An adviser wouldn't have gotten the top job straight away.

That sounds like it would make sense. But do they say that anywhere, (or hint at it at all?) I'm not saying it's a plot hole or anything, but it seems kind of important to mention, even in passing.

I think it's just meant to be a given seeing as Van Dough had his own (pretty classy) office, Personal Assistant, Gym and exclusive dinner with the Rich family. But I do agree with you that it should have been made clearer.

He was CFO not vise president

Why would a CFO be given this rise to CEO? Also which scene was this stated?
