*Really* bad acting in one scene

I don't mean to be mean but in that one scene with Richie and his classmates in the fencing area (just before he pokes that guy in the but) there is this black classmate. He then says something like "Oh Richie... something something... We don't have to time to play around, etc." and GOSH that's so forced.

I know he's probably like 7 but honestly!

holy hannah and hell.

i thought *I* was racially sensitive, and im white!!

he's allowed a damned OPINION.

wake the hell up.

he didn't say the kid couldn't act BECAUSE he was black.
he didn't say that BLACK KIDS can't act.
he didn't say that black kids SHOULDN'T act.

he said that THIS kid, who happened to be black, sounded forced when he did his line, and that he didn't do that good of a job.

had he said "the kid in that scene" would you have known WHICH kid he was talking about?? no. so he said "the black kid" cuz..um, he IS the only black kid in the scene.
had it been the "blonde kid" or the "kid with the crazy curly hair and the glasses", they would have been described thusly.

there was no racism here.

YOU'RE the one that flipped out and started talking about plantations and dirty shacks.

it's quite a reach from what this guy said and where you are going with it.

grow up.

Thank you, Decolady. I just knew I was going to get crap for that -- even if it were only a 'joke'.

You posted my thoughts exactly. I only called him "the black kid" because well, that's one of the major things differeniating him from the others. I could say the kid was the only one with the slightly darker jacket or summat, but not many would be able remember.

But I do agree that I do not like classifying people by colour (or shade, I guess). Only because most of the time people only mention colour when it's in relation to darker-skinned persons. Like, how many times do you say, "hey, there was this white man on the bus and...". I know it makes sense due to statistics and all but still.

Anywho, again I am not racist whatsoever. :)

i agree whole-heartedly.

i don't like using race as a description factor, but sometimes it's necessary to help DESCRIBE the person you are talking about.

when the hell did describing what someone looks like become racist?

Yeah, just saw that scene on TBS. That kid actor was really bad. Was thinking the same thing, too.

There's gotta be a story behind that one...

I couldn't agree more...the other kids in that scene with Culkin were dreadful...though I don'tknow whether to blame them or the director.

What was a black kid doing in the scene anyway? These kids were meant to be the richest kids in America and everyone knows that racism keeps black people down and in poverty. How would a black family be able to get so rich in the USA?

Like Chris Rock says "some black people are rich but few are wealthy."
