Is this movie really THAT bad?

It's the only Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie I haven't seen. For background, I loved the first two. Liked the remake and The Beginning. Didn't care for III. Hated 3D, Leatherface, and the Netflix remake. I find it hard to imagine this is as bad as 3D or the Netflix remake.

Oh, it's pretty bad. Havent seen it in a long time, but it's more or less a remake/retelling of the original story, but it's made with the integrity and craftmanship of a high school project. It almost feels fanmade, which is funny considering it was made by Kim Henkel, who worked on the first film. I guess there's a reason why he never directed anything until this one. Also funny considering they got two future Oscar-winning actors. But yeah, this one is really bad.

the other tcm sequels are just bad, but this one is so bad it's good. it's hilarious and bold how it pulls through with its silly ideas and mcconaughey giving his best nicolas cage performance!

It's really bad, but I'd still rather watch this one instead 3D or the 2022 remake. It's basically a remake of the first but with a campier tone and worse and pretty much every way. It's actually really slow for the first half. Really only redeeming things about it are there are quite a few so bad it's funny moments and it is cool to see a young Matthew McConaughey who gets to really let loose towards the end. If you really want to watch it, recommend you have a few drinks before hand.
