i can't name the genre but i feel like Quiz Show & The Social Network are in the same one. Neither film has clear cut protagonists or antagonists. Both build tension & engage you without being action-packed or about life & death. They both also encourage the viewer to be an active 'participant', constantly thinking about what's wrong & what's right.

I'd throw The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in the same genre too. For one, they're biopics and they also show likable/unlikable sides to each character presented
