Foreshadowing
"For $64,000, I hope they ask you the meaning of life."
-Dad
They did.
it was such a great script.
Awesome point!
share@oh_monday Sorry for being stupid, but can you explain this? I don't get it.
shareThis movie is not only about TV and it's sponsors manipulation of truth, but is also about what a man will do, and what he will do for money and fame. Van Doren struggled with this, for those of us that have seen the movie, we know what he finally decided, thus the "meaning of his life".
I loved the line where Goodwin says under his breath during the scene where they offer Van Doren the Today show contract, "Charlie, walk away!"
The look on Feinnes face said it all.
@altpensacola OK, so Van Doren learns about the meaning of life, or at least about what's important to him in life, and what he's willing to sacrifice in order to get it.
That clears things up a bit, thank you.
Before I saw this movie, I wondered why there were no big money quiz shows until 2000, with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Now I know. I was born in the seventies.
