The big flaw of the film is in the first scene

I liked this overall, but I despise all the time spent on Goodwin. Who cares what kind of car he wants to buy?

The film has two "heroes" --Stempel and van Doren who, if not exactly heroic, are meant to be sympathetic. That is enough. We don't need another main character.

Goodwin should have been a minor character who asked questions, or even left out altogether. For narrative structure, the two quiz show leads would have been fine. All the court stuff was really clunky anyway.

I also think Morrow didn't handle the role very well--his fake accent really grated on me.

I have to say that I disagree. He's checking out that expensive car and knows that he won't buy it. He can't afford it. It gives you a sense of what his character is going to be like during this film. He's a shrewd guy. I also think that he really is an important part of what happened. The guy wasn't just written into this story. The Story really happened and Goodwin was a part of it.

I'll also have to disagree here. He brought a lot of elements together that would have seemed more hobbled together without his involvement. And not leaning on the film as an absolute historical document, he also showed a personal bit of the public reception of van Doren by idolizing a guy who was suspected of wrong doing.

But a vote yes on the fake accent thing. It wasn't even like it was one scene, it was awkward and overstated the entire movie.
