fabienne

Fabianne or febienne whatever the heck her name is
I just watched the movie for the second time and I just realized how ANNOYING that girl character was. Too stupid she's almost retarded. I was like... if I were butch I would just leave her or at least knock her head hard with a rock or sumthing lol
The actress did a good job playing her.

I'm right there with you. I was just watching the movie with my sister yesterday and the minute Fabienne came on, I said "Oh my god, this b!tch is the only bad thing about this movie". Probably the most annoying human character I've ever seen in a movie

Oh I hated her character the first time I saw this movie. So annoying with that stupid, helpless, little girl mentality.
Do guys really dig chicks like that?

Her role in the film is to show someone who is completely innocent and naive. Every other character is treading an 'evil/bad' path and Butch is with her because he wants to escape the seedy life he leads.

She is a paragon of virtue, and a childlike waif in physicality as well.

Compare her to Esmeralda Villa Lobos, the taxi driver, who asks Butch what its like to kill a man.

He could have run away with her as she seemed more on his level, and maybe would have been a lot of fun, but thats not where he wanted his path to go.

The underlining of this fact is that Butch went back for Marcellus. He could have left him in Maynards basement but instead went back, rescued him and so earned his redemption, and thats what this film is all about.

100% Agree. She definitely was, without a doubt, the most annoying character in the whole movie. Usually when I watch the Pulp Fiction movie, I fast forward most of the scenes with her up to the point where Butch is looking for his watch. The real truth is that if you REALLY think about it, the scene from where Butch enters the hotel room (or her apartment? I don't remember) up to the point where he's looking in the duffle bag for his watch can be easily deleted and nobody would really miss anything. All that's needed to know is Butch got to the hotel room (or her apartment. Again I really don't remember)and went to sleep and the next day as he's getting dressed, he's looking for his watch in the bag that turns out that is not there. At that point, starts the mission where Butch has to get that gold watch back. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. There's like 8 to 9 minutes that could be easily saved...

Loved this movie. Actually, Fabienne is one of my favorite characters. She is the only "good" person in the whole film! As a previous post mentioned, she represents the innocence that Butch longs for. That is why Butch loves her, despite her silliness and flaws. I love Fabienne and enjoy the scenes with her and Butch.

I think that a lot of people miss the point of her character. Jules and Vincent separate after seeing an act of God, Jules catches on and leaves all money and possessions behind to become a shepherd and "finder of lost children", Vincent doesn't and gets struck down with "furious anger". The only reason his death occurs is because the young innocent, worried that Butch may leave her if she tells him that she's pregnant, forgets the only item that could make him go back to his apartment.

Thee ONLY part of the movie I don't like.

The person didn't bother me but I thought her hairstyle was the worst thing in the whole film!

she's almost retarded

I think that was intentional as when Butch called her retarded her reaction of shouting at him shows she has a sensitivity to that suggestion and has perhaps been teased about being 'simple' in the past.

Her child like simplicity was a calming influence for Butch & you can see that he feels like he needs that influence to offset his personality, as he can protect her. Which is why he told her she wasn't to blame for forgetting the watch but to himself when he was alone in the car stressed that he categorically told her. That almost feels like he was admitting, "an adult would get the emphasis but she's just a child so you can't get mad at her"

I like her. She is sort of innocent in a film where most characters are definitely not. I think she also brings a certain European sensibility into this otherwise very American film, though it is book-ended by Pumpkin and Honey Bunny who are obviously English. And an Über-male type like Butch probably would like a woman like Fabienne, rather than, say, Mia, Jody, Raquel or Honey Bunny, the other principal female characters we meet.
I don't get the idea that she was pregnant and reluctant to tell Butch. She wanted to tell him something then changed her mind, but I suspected it was about the watch, which she remembered she had forgotten.
