I just saw the movie

I agree, it was cute and different. I am glad Mrs. Worral aided in preventing her from being hanged. When she decided to leave her husband, that was a shock. Nor did I expect the journalist to join Mary at the end of the film to Philadelphia.

Lovely movie!

Can I ask where you saw it? I've never seen it on TV, but it must be streaming somewhere...

reply

You can rent it from Amazon Prime.

reply

I got it from the library.

It’s sitting on a shelf in my video library. I’m going to watch it with my soulmate when we find each other.

reply

I don't know that it's a soulmate movie, there's a romance but it isn't really the most important part of the story.

And now I'm trying to think of what to watch with your soulmate, and the only thing coming to mind is "Beauty and the Beast" (1991)! That won't do, will it.

reply

We won’t watch it for the romance in the narrative. We will watch it for the sweetness wit, goodness and sheer guts (Mrs. Worrel standing up to her husband) that the story embodies. You are a very good friend to reply as you did, Otter. I chose this movie for her for its energy, not for its narrative. She is an extraordinary woman.

This is my 15,000th post on MovieChat. I try to put real effort into my every 5K post. This one happened effortlessly, taking me happily by surprise. I cannot think of a better milestone marker than I can of a post involving you, a very good and valued man and friend, she whom I love, and Princess Cariboo. I stand revealed for the big softee I am.

What better use for a 5,000K post, than to comment on a really lovely movie, and to say something really sweet? I'm glad to have you here, you're sane and bright and fun to talk to!

And I saw the film again recently, free on youtube. It's just wonderful, very sweet but with an underlying wildness. Perhaps it's the perfect movie for a soulmate after all, if your soulmate is a "partner in crime"!

The film is delightful. Quite a bit of the story is based in fact, though much of it is fictional, too.
