Its a cute movie. I like it. I'm a straight male!!

I just saw this movie, it was ON DEMAND, so i thought hell i'll watch it. It was Robert Downey Jr. (who is my favorite actor) and Marrisa Tomei (who is hilarious in My Cousin Vinnie). So I saw it, and it has one of my favorite actors John Benjamin Hickey! I did like this movie, it is very cute, and I'm a straight male! I gave this movie a 9/10.

haha, cute! I adore this movie! I'm a girl (nothing new for this movies fans), I think it's very original, underrated, and sooo romantic, the leads have so much chemistry.. just some of the reasons why I love it!

I have a similar story. I'm a guy and was looking for something to watch. I started Platoon but it only took a minute or two to realize it wasn't as upbeat as I was looking for. And I also had seen the ads on On Demand and was like, Fnck it, let's check it out. I'm watching it right now. As you say, cute flick.

this flick is another example of why americans are still refered as 'ugly americans' in most part of the world.

as soom as they arrive in italy, the 2 female leads started exhibiting the most famous attributes of the classic american; rudeness and manque de savoir vivre.if i were the front desk clerk at the danieli hotel,i would have called security and ask them to show those 2 annoying ladies the door.

forget that they dont EVER ONCE stop and say;'wow! i cant beleive how beautiful venice- or rome...or positano-is!'

aside from the giovanni character(who is the only one who mentions how gorgeous italy is;'...la bella italia.....(when in positano)look at how beautiful is the view'.....NONE of the 3 leads look to be impressed by the sublime scenery surrounding them. you would think that coming from boston and pittsburg they would be mesmerized by all the beauty in italy.......but no....

perhaps italy s tresors of history and culture arent all that if you compare them with what the characters of the films have at home...maybe i've been in the dark too long;i should plan a trip to pittsburg.....maybe then i'll understand why they were so blaze.......

They KINDA had more important things on their minds...but I feel you. No matter WHAT I had to do previously, if I was in Italy, I would take time to stop and smell the roses.

Major LOL @ the title of this thread and the OP. I can totally relate =)

Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.

What does liking this movie have to do with being a straight male?

I second this. I'm a male, straight, I watched it with a girl friend (not a "girlfriend", mind you), and I absolutely loved it.

Gave it a 8/10.

For the straight males: why did you like it? Just curious...

I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy.

reply

Why do they need a reason? A straight male has as much right to like this movie as anyone else. They shouldn't need to defend themselves. In fact I really wish the OP didn't need to put "I'm a straight male" in the title, like it's a big surprise.

I only do it with superheroes.

Well you see, Screen Queen, it might be a natural fit of a movie for you, but most of us know just what the OP meant, and we're glad he and the other straight guys who've posted liked it! And the person who asked what made him like the film wasn't challenging him to defend himself - she asked nicely; as she said: "just curious."

reply

I wasn't trying to be rude, and I know the person I was replying to was just asking, but I wanted to make the point that these stupid gender stereotypes shouldn't exist. Why is it odd that a straight male should like a movie like this? It shouldn't be, but apparently it is, which is a tad ridiculous. But, I do agree with you that it's good these guys liked it.

This type of movie is considered a chick flick. Popular opinion is that macho males don't watch chick flicks, not that their gay if they do but they just say that tough men don't watch romantic comedies. Put it this way most action movies such as The Expendibles, Rambo, Die Hard and such are considered movies for men but a lot of women like these types of films as well.

I think the OP is saying that he's a male who is probably more into the type of action films that I mention but he actually enjoyed this movie that was geared more towards women who crave romantic movies. Answer this, how many men do you know that read Romance Novels; it's the same with romantic comedies, they are not into it.

I have a friend who jokes about date night with his wife and he always say that she's probably going to make me go see some romantic comedy movie with her.

Never argue with an idiot; people passing by might not be able to tell the difference.
