Robert or Billy?

I just watched this movie for the first time tonight and I thought it was great. It was a really cute love story and it was reminiscent of Moonstruck, which I absolutely love. And Yes, I do know that both films were directed by the same person. And it made me want to ask this question.

Ladies, if you were Faith, who would you choose, Robert Downey Jr. (Peter) or Billy Zane (The False Damon Bradley)?

Even though both men are incredibly hot and talented, and I've had crushes on both men, I'd have to choose Robert because I think he is much more charming than Billy. Billy seems a little full of himself and seems to get all the girls and Robert really fell in love with Faith and wanted to be with her. He even made Billy say he was Damon so Faith would be happy! He wanted Faith to be happy! That is so romantic. Robert is my choice. Not just because I love him and he's so cute, he was such a better character than Billy. And he is better looking than Billy, but Billy is hot too.

Thanks for reading!

The real question is RDJ or JDA?

I thought Joaquim was yummy as all get out in this movie. I think he's my #1, Robert my #2 and Billy wouldn't make my list- I don't like guys who wear jewlery either.

(btw, that was so cute when Bonnie Hunt said that and you seem JDA try to quickly hide his necklace!)

Well, Peter didn't exactly set up the thing with the false Damon Bradley to make Faith happy, he did it so that she would realize that she was in love with a name, and not the man behind it.

But Robert Downey jr. is so damn awesome, and I wouldn't have been able to stay mad at him if I were her.

I wouldn't even have looked twice at BZ wearing that wig, urgh. He looks much better with the shaven head. In any case, beside RDJ, then or now, I wouldn't have noticed him!

Of COURSE the cheque is good!

Oh, Robert, no question about it. I fell in love with RDJ watching this film, he was just perfect in it - best male romantic lead ever in my opinion. He was so charming, and his character loved Faith so much. Yes, I'm a sucker.

I don't believe in love at first sight, I think you have to know someone, warts and all, to truly love them, but my inner-closet-secret-romantic believed Peter when he said it!

Who taught you grammar? Badly's an adverb!

reply

I've gotta go with Robert as well!

What are you looking at, you infantile stupid? That's right, damn you and such

Agreed. This movie was the one that made me love RDJ. I'm so glad he's gotten his crap together and is making a comeback (Iron Man? Sherlock Holmes? Yay!).

Why would she want to be with Billy Zane in the movie. Sure, he's handsome and all, but he didn't care for her like Robert's character did. And he also took his pretending to be Damon Bradley way too far and was touching her inappropriately which was making her VERY uncomfortable. I got the feeling that he never got turned down and couldn't understand why Faith didn't want him touching her like that.

RDJ all the way!

I would choose Robert/Peter. This movie made me see what a charming actor RDjr is. In spite of all his personal problems, he's a very good and believable actor. He actually had me believing a guy would fall in love at first sight and go to all that trouble to keep the girl, and then go to all the trouble to help her find the guy of her dreams (in the airport). Okay, his Peter character is probably the only male on Earth who would do this, but watching the movie, RD had me believing it could happen.

Zane did nothing for me.

I thought the guy who played Giovanni was rather a hottie.

Ya gotta remember that BZ's character was playing a part--RDJ had instructed him to act like a creep toward Faith so that she would abandon her idea of searching for Damon Bradley and want to be with him.

So we really don't know what BZ's character was really like.

Agreed he wasn't a jerk, he was hired by his friend to play one. I guess the viewers forgot the scene where Faith found out it was all a ruse and left the boat. BZ's character stayed with Peter on the boat to comfort him even after the physical altercation.

To answer the question I will still take Peter/RDJ but BZ isn't a bad consolation prize.
