Surprise favorite

I originally saw this in theaters back in '94 and for years never gave it another thought. Then in 2014 I caught it on tv and fell in love with it and wondered why I didn't care much for it back then. It's such an endearing film with an old time classic feel that just you don't see come out of Hollywood anymore.

I rented it tonight and only appreciate it even more upon my 2nd revisit. The 2 leads Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei are so natural and shine in their roles.
Even the B story of the friend's marriage on the rocks is just as endearing as the main story and the scenery if Italy is breathtaking.

If anyone asked me a couple years ago what my favorite films were, this wouldn't even have made the top 20, if that. But now it's definitely a top 5 for me. I think this is one of those films that just get better with age.....Age as in passing of time as well as in age of the viewer.

I think personally speaking, at 24 when it came out, I wasn't able to fully appreciate it as much as I can at 46. I can't really explain that...and yes, I do find it a bit weird. Oh well, next time I watch it I won't be renting because i'm finally adding this little gem of a film to my collection.
