question?

Please bear with me, cause I only saw the last 3/4 of the movie when it was on tv the other day, but who was the villain in this movie? Was it the guy who trespassed onto the oil rig, murdered a bunch of the workers, and blew up the entire rig, (which would have caused an oil spill MUCH larger than that capable of any oil tanker), or was it Miachael Caine's character?

reply

The villain is Michael Caine's character. The plot involves him blowing up his own rigs and making it look like the work of eco-terrorists. I don't recall exactly, but I guess some of his henchmen would have gone onto the rigs, murdered some workers and then blown it apart - or you could be talking about Steven Seagal as he does the same thing (except he's there to kill bad guys).

caine was the main villian. mcginily(sp?) was his henchman. r lee ermey was also a hired baddie and the best part of this tripe.

Just so you know Seagal specifically points out that he has set the preventers to implode thereby stopping any oil spill- I don't know what that means exactly but he is careful to point that out. He did it for the environment and the dead eskimo cheif. And also he didn't want to resort to violence - he had no choice! Its all there in the script....
