"The "bad" things about this movie (the plot is totally implausible and ridiculous, the story flows badly and it's full of annoying stereotypes) actually work when you realize at the end that it's all been North's dream. Aren't dreams usually about implausible and ridiculous things? Don't they usually flow in a weird and random way? And the whole story has been in North's head so he dreams the cultures as he knows them-with stereotypes. Does anybody else see what I mean?"
Yes I see what you mean. Yet, don't you feel offensively manipulated when a film ends up being all a dream? Because it was a dream, the film did not have to follow any rules at all. Yes--a good movie can end revealing that it is all a dream. That being said, North is NOT a good movie. The dream sequence did not make the film better. It just showed that the script writer was too lazy to come up with a better ending! You say that dreams are supposed to be about implausible and ridiculous things. True. But dreams themselves can suck! Dreams can be boring and appallingly stupid. If I dreamed the story line and screenplay to North, I would think it is the SINGLE WORST DREAM I OR ANYONE ELSE HAS EVER DREAMED!!! So, I still stand by my opinion that North is THE SINGLE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE--by far!!!!!!!!!
