Paul Newman's performance showed so much experience and heart..at times I forgot i was watching an actor. Bravo.

....Robert Benton certainly deserves some credit. I was amazed at the performance he helped Dustin Hoffman put together in "Billy Bathgate".

agreed. i couldn't tell where paul newman ended and sully sullivan began and vice versa.

very few actors make you forget you are watching who you are watching. newman is one. robert duvall is another in my opinion.
