A quick question about Nell-
I was just wondering if anyone knows where the film "Nell" was actually filmed, shot or whatever. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks much-

looks like North Carolina. You can find this info on the OTHER INFO section on the movie's main page on the left. By "release dates" there's one for "filming locations". They list a few places in N.C.
I actually wrote this down ages ago when I saw the movie...
I can't remember where I go this, maybe the end credits, but I'm 90% sure it's filmed in the Nantahala National Forest, Cheoah Ranger District, Graham County, North Carolina.
I just got the Region 1 DVD through the post yesterday and was watching it with the commentary from Jodie... she mentions the Blue Mountains???? I have no idea if this means anything to you... I live just outside London, England!

Nell was filmed in North Carolina at Fontana Dam... near the Great Smoky Mountians National Park... Here's a Link to a map if you would like...

The city scenes were filmed in Charlotte, NC. The big tall building they show a lot is the Bank of America building. The skyline has changed a lot in the last 10 years. For a more recent view of it, check out Shallow Hal.
In the scene where Jerry takes Nell to the motel, he says he's at the Days Inn at 601 North Tryon. There really is a Days Inn at 601 North Tryon.

And while in the movie you can see a church across from the Days Inn, there is now a fairly tall building, the Odell Building, between the Days Inn and the church, built not too long after this movie was filmed.
The Days Inn at 601 N. Tryon is not regarded as a nice place to spend the night, BTW. But it IS cheap.
The Movie was filmed In Robbinsville NC in Graham County. The Courthouse, grocery store, restaurant, Sheriff's Office, and pool hall were actually used in the film. Santeetlah Lake just outside of town was used for the Lake front scenes. VERY beautiful place.
