Simplicity casts an illusion

Sometimes, simplicity casts an illusion of silliness or unbelievability. This movie is like that. The simplicity of a girl raised never seeing other people and knowing very little can be very real.If they had added in the events of her becoming like us and falling in love and living a normal life,it would have been more believable. But since I accept the simple things in life,I have taken it that she liked her life the way it was and did not want to change.I personally long for that simplicity and a lot of other people do too.I think it is a good movie and I loved Jodie Foster's performance although I really do not care for her as an actress.

Anyone who watches "Pulp Fiction" should get a phone call in which someone says"seven days"!!

It may have been too simple. At the end, it seemed to me that Nell longed for her own child and maybe a mate, the way she was looking at Jerry, Paula and their daughter. Add those two elements and I'm more likely to agree that everything was adequately fulfilling for Nell. Even her mother, the hermit, had children.

I know you responded some time ago but I wanted to have time to sit down and watch the movie again so I could see if I could see what you did.I have to say I have seen the movie a hundred times and your grasp of the movie and what was behind it was light years away from what I thought. You are exactly right. When she was watching the little girl dance and the couples together,it was clear in her face. You are either very perceptive or very well educated in human nature!! thanks!!

You're gonna die in prison and I don't feel a thing about it!!Janice

Thanks laranadtony. I didn't exactly grow up in a Leave it to Beaver household, so it was a matter of survival to be able to pick up non-verbal cues.

Im sure it's very annoying for me to hyper-analyze everything in real life, but that's what online forums and boards are for.
