My sister is doing a project and this movie came up and they guy who brought it up says that Nell was based off a true story, we've done some research but can't find anything saying it is. So does anyone out there know if Nell is based off a true story?

I think Nell is an amalgam of many people who have spent much of their lives in isolation, not necessarily a representation of any single case.

I remember a sociology/anthropology professor telling me that Nell is loosely based off of some of the very rare examples of "feral children" or "wild ones" who have been found who managed to grow up in isolation from the outside world. Most of the time those stories end so so so sadly. It's been a long time since I was in school so I can't remember actual names but if you search the term "feral children" you're bound to find something.
