one thing about Liam Neeson in this movie..

is that his character was intelligent, inquisitive and very warm. I was surprised that such a large man could be so tender. It was this movie that made me take notice of him.

Oh, Liam has got a VERY tender, gentle manner onscreen (and undoubtedly in real life, too). Another great example is in SCHINDLER'S LIST, the scene in which he comforts the abused and frightened, young Jewish maid. He's so tender in that scene, he makes me cry. Would that we had more men in this world who acted that way.
