How are they married?

So Mickey marries himself to Mallory. Later, everyone just calls them a married couple. They call her Mallory Knox rather than her maiden name.

So was Mickey a reverend or judge?

Were there witnesses? I know that some people drove by in a car, but that doesn't count.

Did they have a marriage license?

Etcetera.

While we're on the subject of inaccuracies, why is Mallory in an all-male prison?

I`m sorry for my lack of manners, but I`m not used to escorting men.

reply

No.but the media jumped on them being married and packaged it as bonnie and Clyde type young married killing blah blah

reply

They weren't offcially legally married, but they claimed to be and weren't challenged to prove it, so it didn't matter.

Probably the same way a lot of gay couples have weddings and consider themselves married, but don't actually have the legal document.

"why is Mallory in an all-male prison?"

Good question.

I thought about it, and I concluded that the most reasonable answer is that she was kept there by McCluskey as sort of a psychological torture for both of them. Letting them know that they're a few yards away from each other but that they can never meet again.

reply

I'm pretty sure the BOPs policies would overrule whatever McClusky wanted to do.

I can't remember the reason being explicit in the film, and recollection of the script is hazy, and since they are two totally different beasts it might not be conclusive, BUT, I do believe that Mallory was transferred there because they were both going to the mental hospital to be lobotomized the next day.

Again, I believe that's the intent. They were both going to the same destination, and Mallory was dropped off at the prison so they could both be guarded by Scagnetti -- there might have also been a reference to Scagnetti killing them both on the road to the institution and making it look like a failed getaway because they caused so much chaos wherever they went no place wanted to take them.

Again, I'll have to bust out the script to be 100%, but I think that's right.

I don't think Mallory was just there to torture Mickey.
