Hi,
Sorry I can't help you, what is more, I have also a question. Last holidays I saw that film in France (in french) and I want get to know one song. But it was possibly only in the french version. It's sth like "...Ca va? Meme si ca va pas...". Please, if someone knows the tittle, contact me: [email protected]. Thanks!! Bye!

I don't think this movie has an official soundtrack, but a lot of the songs are by The Baha Men. If you get their CD "Junkanoo!" there are a lot of tracks from the movie on it.

"Junkanoo!" ~ The Baha Men

If you go here: you can preview the tracks..

It's called:

"Land of the Sea and Sun" by The Baha Men

It's featured on the same album that I mentioned in the comments above.

I do not think it's the song we are all searching for. I'm searching for this song too. It sounds just befor he boy presented the sea shell to Vero. It also sounds at the end of the film (french version), when Vero tells father that she is going to so\pend the rest of her holidays on the boat.

reply

Are you even thinking of the same movie?
Who is Vero?

reply

Hey all,
So I have been looking for the freaking soundtrack forever as well. Here is what has come of my research:
1. Buena Vista Sound did not release an actual soundtrack. All the websites I have been to list the "official" songs as the Baha Men songs, a Mozart sonata, a tango song, the "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" song, and then a song called "Dance Hall Soca," by Byron Lee and the Drangonaires which may be a promising fit for the missing maintrack (IF anybody can find it).
** 2. I know exactly what you mean by that "dooda dee" song played at the beginning, on the plane and, Katherine Heigel picks up the shell; it is the Main Title song and I presume it is by David Newman (the listed composer of the soundtrack). He is a really famous composer who has done a bunch of films. So the likelihood of getting in touch with him to see if he ever did/will release it seems small. But I would looove that song too.
3. In reply to the French version song question by Agagiet, one of the songs I know is for sure called "Ca Va" (the one Gerard sings).
4. I heard that the DVD was released with some audio included but I only have the VHS--that may be a rumor.
But hey! If there are so many of us out there who like that chill reggae/dancehall music--why can't they make a soundtrack??!!
Does anybody else have any ideas??
Hope this helps~

Xx forget me not xX, you're an idiot! The American version is a different movie, so if you want to know the songs from Mon Pere ce Heros, go to that msg baord! You're the "twat" vous idiot! And just so you know, they changed it, because Nicky is a better, prettier name! I guess it needed to fit the better, prettier actress lol...

Thanks for the info. I have been looking for this soundtrack forever--just for this song. I listen to it now, and it doesn't sound as magical as it did when I saw the movie. But I guess I have to rewatch the film to get it.

I had no idea Katherine Heigl was the same actress in this movie as in Grey's Anatomy.

I've been looking for this soundtrack since I first saw the movie in '94, but it was never produced. I started actively looking again recently because I'm planing a trip to Jamaica. I thought that with all the info now available on the internet, these song would have to be available somewhere- but they simply are not.

I did find this- if you google "Lost interview david newman" about 1/3 way down the text the interviewer asks him about the song you want. The vocalist was Ashley Thompson, the young nun from "Sister Act." The rest of the vocal work in the score (other than the baha men songs) was done by Mervyn Warren. I've tried searching both these people, and while these songs are listed on their CV, the tracks are MIA.

If someone with some market power, like say Apple iMusic, wanted to sell these tracks, couldn't they just contract with touchstone to release them as download songs? I can't imagine this would cost anything- there is no production cost, and these tracks presumably already exist somewhere. If anyone knows someone who knows someone.... I'd be really greatful.

Just after I wrote that above post, I went to iTunes and found they do have a feature to request songs. I already put in a request, but if many people all requested the same songs, it might provide more motivation to actually make the inquiries.
To get the request form, type in the song you want- when the engine doesn't find a match, the link will appear to request it. I put in the request under "soundtracks" with the company being Touchstone (production) and Buena Vista (distribution) because I didn't know who would actually have rights to these songs.
If you have a few free moments, please add your request to the list.
Thanks.

Thanks jessicawiser! I wonder if they got any of the songs by now if enough people requested (since I'm replying to a year old post lol), but I will definitely request it. I had no idea they had that, glad I know, so thanks :)

After years of searching, I finally found the entire score including the "dowahoo be dobe do be" song you were looking for! You can go to this website and download the file. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=07E2TJFO.

You need to type in the code near the top of the page, before you can download the file.
It's a rar file, so you need to have an unRAR application to extract the files.
