At the director's roundtable he says this is one of his favourite films and he saw it six times when it came out.

That's quite an endorsement.

I love this film too.. I hadn't seen it for many years but still found it very funny although I feel a lot of sympathy for Muriel's poor mum..

If so Ridley should take a lesson from this film and not take his characters so seriously.

This sounds like something that shouldn't be true.

I love it though. I wonder if Toni Collette has heard this, and also why hasn't he cast her in a movie yet? They would make a good team.
