One thing that bugs me...

I think its a wonderful movie, but the one thing that bugs is that the children aren't dressed in modern style clothes, they all look like they're dressed for the 1947 original movie!

The movie was designed with a highly stylized look to it, probably with the intent of creating a Christmas mood rather than to convey exact realism. Check out the colors, too. Some of the scenes almost look as if they were colorized, again I think to create a mood. It threw me the first time I saw it too, but on repeated viewings I like the warm fuzzy feeling it creates.

You should also notice the police uniforms. They are the 50's style with long tail jackets. It is to bring together old and new and YES to convey a mood. This remake is probably the best remake out of any movie to be redone.

I noticed that too, but they didn't seem too out of place to me because it IS upscale NYC and clothes a little more like that are a little more common. I grew up there and honestly, I dressed like Susan. But I was a little odd. While I admit to it eing not entirely realistic, I like it. They're cute clothes!

I like the old style. They kept the old school charm, but still kept it modern. Perfect for a christmas movie!

One of my daughters was nine when this was filmed. She often wore the same types of clothes that Susan did as did many of her friends. Kids did not wear jeans and t -shirts or big baggy long shorts for every occasion.
