This isn't Miracle on 34th street!!!!

So I bought the double feature of Miracle on 34th street which had the original and the remake. I'd heard mixed things on the remake and wanted to watch the original to start with anyway. I loved the original and can see why it's one of the best Christmas movies to this day. It's cheerful, cast is great and story was great. So I moved on to the remake to see why everyone thought it was one of the worst remakes ever. OMG let me start off by saying the remake was so mean spirited. It started off with the drunken santa showing us his butt crack. I can only feel like they did that because they thought kids would find it funny. It wasn't. Mara Wilson is no Natalie Wood and I just found Mara to be a smart aleck in this. She wasn't the least bit cute like Natalie was. The whole subplot of Susie's mom and her friend really wasn't needed and just didn't add anything I felt like. I didn't care for this Santa. The original santa was much better. I could go on and on about how much this remake screwed up the original, but I'm not. The fact is the original is the better movie and it was silly of them to even think about remaking it.

I don't think this version is that bad. But what ever you do do not wacth the 1973 version.

I liked this version, as well as the original. The 1973 version is bad. They never play it anyway. If someone thinks this is a bad remake, they NEED to see the 1973 version to change their minds.

The mom is a complete bitch. She is so jaded from a divorce that she wants her kid to be a little adult. Practically ruined her childhood and wouldn't let her like or believe in Santa. Ugh. It's misery.

I saw the classic version about 2yrs before this movie came out. I was a teenager. I loved the story and thought it was great. But, when I saw this version I liked this one a lot better. I watch this every year.
