Saw it again tonight. The baseball action was more realistic than most baseball movies, utilizing glimpses of several actual players is a bonus.
To me, the kids behaved more like kids than they do in a great many movies and TV shows about kids. That was the first thing I liked.
While the idea of the kid owner becoming manager is not truly realistic, I think that IF that were to happen, they handled it about as realistically as they could.
But you are not supposed to closely watch for anything that doesn't seem 100% real. You are supposed to say, "If a kid were managing a big league ballclub, what sort of funny things might happen?" In this film there were lots of laughs, including a few good stats thrown in by the Twins' radio announcer, as handed to him by his silent assistant.
To me, it is one of the funniest movies I ever saw that has baseball as a focal point.
