Did this movie correctly predict the future?

In the movie, the Twins make a late season comeback to tie the Mariners for the division lead, forcing a one game playoff. The Mariners won, advancing to the playoffs with Randy Johnson recording the final out.

During the 1995 season, a year after the movie was released, the Mariners make a huge late season comeback to tie the Angels for the AL West lead, forcing a one game playoff. The Mariners won the game as well with Randy Johnson recording the final out.

I find it a very cool coincidence in both scenarios, the Mariners advance to the playoffs by winning one game playoffs.

I thought the same thing when I saw this. The parallels are amazing, especially considering that at the time this movie was released, the Mariners had never even sniffed the playoffs. The similarities run even deeper when I remembered that Lou Pineilla called for Randy Johnson in relief in the final game of the following series. I couldn't help but wonder if Lou was inspired by the plot of the film, as ridiculous as that sounds.
