Why couldn't Paul Hogan seperate himself from Crocadile Dundee? He was such a good, light actor that he could have had such a long career. Look at this movie, can anyone honestly say it didn't look like Crocodile Dundee playing Jack? Even in "almost an angel" he had to have his wife in it, making it too seem just like Croc Dundee. People probably call him Mick more than Paul! lol
There was some similar aspects of Lightning Jack and Crocodile Dundee. But Both where fun and good. I like Lightning Jack more.
Almost an Angel was different though. Almost an Angel had lots of heart in it and it was very touching. It was a Religious Comedy/Drama. And I loved it too. I wish it was on DVD. I've got a low quality vhs-to-DVD transfer, but I want a Widescreen version with a trailer and a featurette. Also Subtitles too. I'm not asking for more than that, but give us at least Widescreen with Trailer.
COME ON PARAMOUNT!!! RELEASE ALMOST AN ANGEL ON DVD!!!!
Hogan was going to do a American accent for this movie. In fact he was training with a voice coach and was getting good at it until the producers told him they thought it would be better if they made the Lighting Jack character Australian. Probably was done so they could try and cashin on the Crocodile Dundee success.
Also what you have to remember is Hogan is the first to acknowledged that he is more of a comedian than an actor. He has limited depth. So much so that he wrote the Crocodile Dundee character so he could just kinda of play himself. This is not a put down on Hogan, but Hogan playing different characters in his career like Jim Carey was never really a realty.
I don't think you understand. Paul Hogan always plays himself in his films; mick Dundee is actually Paul hogan, as is his character here and even (especially) pvt Leary in Anzacs. All his cgaracters on the paul hogan show are various derivatives of paul hogan. He never got stuck with crocodile Dundee; he was simply content remaining Paul hogan.
