Where can i see REAL jungle book?

Does anyone know the closest film to the original book? Maybe if possible even with the other characters apart from Mowgli, like the white seal and the mongoose.

There's a series of Chuck Jones animations that came out years and years ago, "Mowgli's Brothers""The White Seal" and "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi." They are *very* faithful to the original stories and rather dark. They even show baby genitalia when Father Wolf takes Mowgli in his jaws and carries him into the cave.

There's also an older film made back in the '40s (I believe) which is very faithful to the source material, too. Sabu plays Mowgli and Kaa is an animatronic snake. So is Thuu.

I hated the animated Disney "Jungle Book." They completely flip-flopped the characters of Bagheera and Baloo, Mowgli was absolutely helpless, Raksha had no lines whatsoever, the four Cubs were never seen outside the scene where the wolf family adopts Mowgli, and turned Kaa into an enemy. Aside from Bagheera and perhaps Grey Brother, nobody in the Jungle loved Mowgli more than Kaa.

I'd love to see a real "Jungle Books" on film, too. Do the whole Mowgli cycle, from "Mowgli's Brothers" to "The Spring Running," and have the animals talking.

The one with Sabu... I might have seen that already, I remember watching one that looks very old, although it's in colour, not blak and white, and it included bits from when mowgli lives in the village, not only in the jungle

Yeah, that's the one.

Very good movie, and quite a high budget for its time as I understand. The sound editing was a little choppy but otherwise a keeper.
And it got eclipsed by that animated drivel that came out about 40 years ago. [steam hissing]

It is about time someone had the balls to do the original story how it was told. This is one of the reasons I have a deep hatred for Disney - change the story, change the characters and then that seems to become canon.

This film owed more to the cartoon than the original tale - lordy.

One thing I can't stand is intolerance.
