Shere Khan question *spolier*

What did he & Mowgli do at the end, all that roaring at each other, what the heck was that all about? It would've been better had they just went at it.

I thought it was a cool scene. Of course they totally changed the story from the book and previous movies here to make it more friendly of an ending but it was a more 90s message and all.

What was going on there is Shere Khan accepted him as not only did Mowgli stand up to him. But Shere Khan realized that he is worthy of the jungle and does belong and in a way he earned his respect after what he had just dealt with in the climax of the movie. So Mowgli finally earned his way as part of the jungle and that roaring back and forth there showed pretty much that Shere Khan approved where as before he didn't.

I know its sappy and silly and all that but thats a Disney movie for you. I still thought that moment was awesome. Sure a battle would have been cool too but for how this movie was done it seemed to fit well to just have them roar wildly at each other and then nod in acceptance and leave it at that. I don't know why but it worked.

Also you won't find many movies now a days that use real animals in such situations. So the fact that it was a real tiger used here and not just some CGI created mess makes this situation even cooler. I remember when seeing this in the theaters and when they showed a close up of Shere Khan roaring like that people did jump out of their seat. It was cool to be able to get that close up to a tiger like that in the show down that they had there. I don't think a battle was really needed after what Mowgli just went through before that moment anyway. The movie had its climax and battle, like I said.. Shere Kahn accepting him at the end works.

Thanks alot! :) But if you ask me the animated Shere Kahan wouldn't have done NOTHING like that, he would've have tried to tear Mowgli to pieces!

What it was about was the story the holy man told mowgli in his dream when he was a kid coming true, that he was half-tiger and when he saw shere kahn he would become full tiger. This was the dream he told his father about in the beginning, while his father was quizzing him about the names of animals in Hindi and English, right before his death.

I must admit the scene was disappointing, especially when you compare to that other "Jungle Book" with Sabu, which is much closer to the original and therefore more violent (as Shere Khan ends up killed and skinned)
