Kaa the snake

How come Kaa the snake couldn't hypnotize people in this movie?

He could do that in the novel and even in the Disney film version?

reply

Because the idea that snakes can hypnotize animals had been discredited years before.

reply

lol, plus that was a Disney movie.

reply

Kaa could never hypnotize people. Only animals. At least in the original novels.

reply

In the original novels, yes. Kaa was hypnotizing the monkeys, but baloo and bagheera were being affected, and mowgli wasn't. He asked baloo and bagheera what was wrong, saying it was just kaa making shapes in the dirt (He hypnotized with motion, not eye contact).

I actually prefer the animation's Kaa, just cos he had more character to him even if very different to the book, I think it's a shame this one was just so "evil" and rarely seen... the only bit from the book in here is that he still scares monkeys

reply

If i remember the book, I think Kaa only twisted and made shapes with his own body to confuse the monkeys, but I don't remember anything about him hypnotising with his eyes.
