As a matter of fact, there was a case of two young girls in India who had been raised by a female wolf.
I think there are several such cases in India, possibly one reason why it was possible for Kipling to write the story in the first place... although Mowgli walks on two legs, whereas in the real cases the kids walked on all fours.

Well, yes, and the other thing in this situation is that he did live with humans until he was 5 years old - so, after several yeart in the jungle, he would probably still remember how to walk upright, and do it sometimes, but he might also walk on all fours ... then again, he was very fast on 2 feet, and since humans are built to walk on 2 feet, he might not be as fast on 4 ... hmmm.
